Getting Started
Account Security and Sign-In Methods
Set up two-factor authentication, connect sign-in methods, change a password, and protect your account.
The Security section at the bottom of My Account controls how you sign in and how the site verifies that it is really you. Sign in, then select My Account from the sidebar or account menu and scroll to Security.
Set up two-factor authentication
Net Worth Insights strongly recommends authenticator-app verification. Phone-only accounts cannot use authenticator-app enrollment for that account type.
If setup is required, the dashboard sends you to Set Up Two-Factor Authentication:
- Install Microsoft Authenticator, Google Authenticator, Authy, or another app that supports time-based one-time passwords.
- Select Set Up Authenticator App.
- In the authenticator app, add an account and scan the QR code. If scanning is unavailable, select Can't scan? Enter key manually and add the displayed key as a time-based account.
- Select I've Scanned the Code.
- Enter the current six-digit code and select Activate Two-Factor Authentication.
Codes normally change every 30 seconds. If a code is rejected, wait for the next code and try again. Check that the phone's date and time are set automatically if codes continue to fail.
To continue without enrolling, select Skip for now, review the security warning, and confirm that you understand the risk. This choice is stored with the account and remains in effect across devices. To opt back in, open the Security section of My Account and select Opt in and set up 2FA.
The device used for enrollment is trusted for 30 days. On a later sign-in, the Two-Factor Verification page asks for the current authenticator code and offers Remember this device for 30 days. Do not remember a shared or public device.
After two-factor authentication is enabled, contact support if it needs to be removed or configured again.
Connect another sign-in method
Under Sign-in Methods, the page shows Google, Microsoft, Phone, and Email & Password as Connected or available to Connect.
- For Google or Microsoft, select Connect and finish the provider's pop-up.
- For Phone, select Connect, enter the full number with its country code, select Send verification code, and enter the six-digit text-message code.
- For Email & Password, select Set password. The site sends instructions to the email address already connected to the account.
Use sign-in methods that belong to the same account. Creating another account with a different provider can separate your dashboard data, purchases, and progress.
An account must always retain at least one sign-in method. The final connected method cannot be removed. Connect and test a replacement before selecting Remove beside an old method.
Phone-only accounts
A phone-only account shows two-factor authentication as Not available. Continue using phone verification for that account. If you need an email-based method or authenticator-app protection and no self-service option is shown, use the Help Center contact option rather than creating a second account.
Change or reset a password
If Email & Password is connected:
- Open Change Password in the Security section of My Account.
- Enter the current password.
- Enter and confirm a new password of at least eight characters.
- Select Update password.
If the current password is unavailable, select Send a reset email. Check spam or junk mail before requesting another message.
Remove a sign-in method safely
Before removing a method:
- Connect another method.
- Sign out and confirm that the new method works.
- Return to the Security section of My Account and select Remove beside the old method.
If the provider reports that a Google or Microsoft credential is already used by another account, stop and contact support. Removing methods from either account will not combine their saved data.
Delete an account
The Danger Zone permanently deletes the account and its associated data, including saved results, licenses, and settings. This cannot be undone.
To proceed, type permanent exactly and select Delete My Account. Admin accounts cannot be deleted from this control; another administrator must remove the admin role first.
For initial account creation and passwordless email links, see Getting Started. For the rest of the private member area, see Your Account and Dashboard.
