Editorial Policy

This page explains exactly how our articles are made, what we check before they go live, and what we don't do, so you can decide how much weight to give what you read here.

Who runs Net Worth Insights

Net Worth Insights is an independent personal finance website owned and operated by Kyle Gundersen, a software engineer. We publish free guides, calculators, and trackers, and we sell a small number of courses and software products. None of our authors is a licensed financial adviser, tax professional, or attorney.

How articles are produced

Most articles on this site are drafted with AI writing tools, and many of the illustrations are AI-generated. Our publishing workflow gives the drafting tools written editorial rules, then runs automated checks on every draft before it can be published.

We review and curate every article with the help of AI. We decide what gets published, check drafts against our editorial rules with AI review tools, and fix problems when they're found or reported. Articles are not reviewed by a licensed professional unless a reviewer is named on that article.

Articles published before we adopted this workflow, including posts migrated from our earlier website, may not meet every current check. We bring them up to date as we revisit them.

Rules we give our drafting tools

  • Never invent statistics, quotes, research, credentials, product claims, or sources.
  • Prefer authoritative primary sources, such as government agencies and official program pages, over secondary summaries.
  • Date- and jurisdiction-qualify tax, legal, insurance, investing, and government-benefit claims that can change.
  • Never promise returns, savings, rankings, or legal results.
  • Recommend a licensed or credentialed professional when a decision depends on personal facts.

These rules are instructions, not guarantees. Automated drafting can still get facts wrong, which is why we link to sources, encourage you to verify important figures, and correct errors when we find them.

Automated checks before publishing

Articles published through our blog editor must pass automated checks before they go live. The checks confirm, among other things, that an article:

  • Has at least 1,200 words organized into at least four sections.
  • Uses valid publication dates, a registered author, and a registered category.
  • Routes every link through our link registry, links only to published pages, and doesn't cite external pages our link checker has marked as dead.
  • Includes a feature image and enough supporting visuals, each with descriptive alt text.
  • Has a meta description of 120–160 characters and an up-to-date reading time and search summary.

Other checks produce warnings rather than blocking publication. They flag changeable financial, tax, legal, rate, or benefit figures without a nearby citation, generic link text, weak examples or next steps, and heavy overlap with articles we've already published. Warnings lower an article's internal quality score, and our automated drafting workflow targets a score of at least 92 out of 100.

What a byline means

The name on an article identifies the person responsible for it on Net Worth Insights. Because most articles are drafted with AI tools, a byline doesn't mean that person wrote every sentence. You can read about each author, and see everything they've published, on their author page.

Dates on articles

The published date is when an article first went live. The Updated date changes only when we make a meaningful change, such as new or corrected information. It doesn't change for formatting, link, or metadata fixes, or because the site was rebuilt.

How we make money

Some articles contain affiliate links. If you sign up or buy through one, we may earn a commission at no extra cost to you; see our terms and our Rakuten disclosure for details. We also sell our own courses and software, and some articles mention them. Our core tools and the Net Worth Accelerator course are free.

Not personalized advice

Everything on this site is general education. It isn't financial, investment, tax, or legal advice for your situation. Tax, legal, insurance, estate, and retirement articles show a notice when they haven't been reviewed by a licensed professional. For decisions that depend on your personal circumstances, talk with a qualified professional.
