Information We Collect

Account information

Your email address, display name, and how you sign in (email link, password, Google, Microsoft or phone). If you sign in by phone, we collect your phone number. If you turn on two-factor authentication, we store that an authenticator app is enrolled.

Profile details you choose to add

First and last name, age, yearly income, city, state and country, and your avatar style. These are optional.

Financial information you enter in our tools

In the Net Worth Tracker and Cash Flow Tracker: the assets and debts you list, with their values, interest rates, payments and notes, and your income, expenses and tax settings. We don't connect to your bank or other financial accounts.

Learning progress

Quiz answers and results, XP, achievements, streaks, guides you've read, and Financial Action Plans you've completed.

Purchases

Order records from Stripe: the product, amount, currency, Stripe payment identifiers and order status. Stripe handles your card details; we never receive your full card number.

Software licenses

For Velocity Studio: license keys, a device identifier derived from your computer's hardware characteristics, the device name, and activation, verification and transfer history.

Messages and reviews

What you send through the contact form or an issue report, and product ratings and comments you leave. These are delivered to our team by email.

Security and activity records

A log of changes to your account, and when you sign in. To limit abuse, we keep short-lived rate-limit records keyed by a one-way hash of your IP address or email address; these expire after about a day. Our hosting provider also keeps standard server logs, which include IP addresses.

Usage data

Pages you visit and how you use them, collected by Google Analytics. See Cookies and Similar Technologies below.

How We Use Information

We use this information to provide and secure your account and our tools, deliver courses and software licenses, process payments, answer your messages, understand how the site is used so we can improve it, prevent fraud and abuse, and comply with the law.

We don't sell your personal information or share it for cross-context behavioral advertising.

Service Providers and Other Sharing

We share information only with providers that help us run the site, and only for that purpose:

• Google (Firebase hosting, authentication, database and Cloud Functions on Google Cloud), which stores and processes the data described above.
• Stripe, which processes payments.
• Twilio SendGrid, which delivers contact messages, issue reports and reviews to our team.
• Google Analytics and Google Tag Manager, for site usage statistics.
• Google reCAPTCHA, which checks phone sign-ins for abuse.
• Gravatar (by Automattic). By default your avatar is loaded from Gravatar using a one-way hash of your email address. Choose a different avatar style in My Account to stop this.
• YouTube and Vimeo, for embedded videos.

We may also disclose information if the law requires it, to protect the rights, property or safety of Net Worth Insights, our users or the public, or as part of a merger, acquisition or sale of our business.

Some links are affiliate links. When you click one, the retailer may set its own cookies under its own privacy policy.

Cookies and Similar Technologies

Cookies are small text files a website stores in your browser. Browsers also offer similar storage (such as local storage) that works the same way. This section lists everything the Net Worth Insights website stores in your browser and why.

Essential storage

We store your sign-in session (through Firebase Authentication, kept in browser storage), the email address you entered while an email sign-in link is pending, the page to return to after you sign in, the two-factor "trusted device" setting (for 30 days), your light or dark theme preference, saved quiz progress, review-prompt and achievement-notification settings, and your cookie choice. These are needed for features you use, so they are always on. You can remove them at any time by clearing this site's data in your browser.

Analytics

We use Google Analytics 4, loaded through Google Tag Manager, to see which pages and tools are useful. It sets the cookies _ga and _ga_<ID>, which expire after up to two years. It collects the pages you visit, the site that referred you, your approximate location, device and browser details, and how you interact with pages. Google processes this information for us as described in How Google uses information from sites that use its services.

If you visit from the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, or Switzerland, analytics cookies stay off unless you accept them. Everywhere else they are on by default, and you can turn them off at any time in Cookie settings or with the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on.

No advertising cookies

We don't use advertising or retargeting cookies, and we don't sell or share personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising.

Embedded videos

Embedded YouTube videos load from youtube-nocookie.com, and Vimeo videos load in Vimeo's do-not-track mode. When a page with a video loads, YouTube or Vimeo may set their own cookies under their own privacy policies.

Payments

Checkout runs on Stripe's hosted payment page at stripe.com. Stripe may use cookies for fraud prevention under its own privacy policy.

Do Not Track

There is no common industry standard for Do Not Track signals, so our site does not respond to them. Other than Google Analytics, and YouTube or Vimeo on pages with an embedded video, we do not allow third parties to collect information about your online activities over time and across different websites through our site. You can turn Google Analytics off at any time in Cookie settings.

Your Choices and Rights

• See and update your profile in My Account.
• Export your Net Worth Tracker data as a CSV file.
• Delete your account yourself: in My Account, choose Delete My Account and type "permanent" to confirm. You can also ask us to do it.
• Turn analytics off at any time in Cookie settings.

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, delete or get a copy of your personal information, to withdraw consent, and to appeal our decision on a request. To make a request, use the Contact form and choose "Privacy or data request", or email team@networthinsights.com. We'll verify your request and reply within 45 days. If you are in the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom, you can also complain to your local data protection authority.

How Long We Keep Information

We keep your information while your account is open. Deleting your account removes your account data, reviews and licenses. We keep order records for accounting and tax purposes. Accounts that are created but never signed in to are removed after 30 days. If we deactivate an account, we archive it so it can be restored; you can ask us to delete the archive. Rate-limit records expire within about a day.

Security of your Personal Information

We use encryption in transit (HTTPS) for everything on the site, access controls on our database, and optional two-factor authentication for your account.

No data transmission over the Internet or any wireless network can be guaranteed to be 100% secure. While we work to protect your personal information, we can't guarantee the security of information you send to us.

International Users

Net Worth Insights is based in the United States, and your information is stored and processed in the United States.

Children

Net Worth Insights is not directed to children under 13, and you must be 13 or older to create an account. If we learn we have collected personal information from a child under 13, we will delete it. Parents or guardians who believe this has happened can contact us.

Emails

We send account and purchase messages, such as sign-in links and password resets. We don't send marketing email today. If we start, each email will include an unsubscribe link.

Links

This website contains links to other sites. Please be aware that we are not responsible for the content or privacy practices of such other sites. We encourage our users to be aware when they leave our site and to read the privacy statements of any other site that collects personally identifiable information.

Changes to this Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy. The date at the top shows when it last changed. For significant changes, we will post a prominent notice on the site or email the address on your account.
